Community Guidelines
Effective date: April 18, 2026
Palit exists to help people find films and conversations they love. That only works if everyone feels safe showing up. These guidelines set the floor for how we treat each other. They apply to every surface in the app — reviews, ranks, comments, direct messages, profiles, and group chats.
Our bar, in one line
Critique films, not people. Zero tolerance for harassment, hate speech, sexual content, violence, or content targeting minors.
What gets you removed
We will remove content and can warn, suspend, or permanently ban accounts for any of the following:
- Harassment and bullying. Targeting another user with insults, threats, pile-ons, or coordinated attacks.
- Hate speech. Attacks on people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, or veteran status.
- Sexual content. Explicit sexual content, sexual solicitation, or nudity. Film criticism that references sexual themes in a movie is fine; sexual content directed at users is not.
- Sexual content involving minors. Strictly prohibited. Reported to authorities and grounds for immediate permanent ban.
- Violence and threats. Graphic violence, threats of harm, incitement to violence, or content glorifying violence.
- Self-harm and suicide. Content that promotes, encourages, or provides instructions for self-harm. (Films that explore these themes are fine to discuss.)
- Spam and scams. Commercial spam, phishing, scams, manipulated engagement, or deceptive content.
- Impersonation. Pretending to be another real person, brand, or organization.
- Private information. Sharing someone else's private information (phone, address, workplace, private photos) without consent.
- Illegal activity. Content that facilitates illegal activity, including illegal drug trade, weapons sales, or trafficking.
How to report
Every piece of user-generated content in Palit has a ⋯ menu in the top-right corner. Tap it to report content. You'll choose a reason (harassment, hate speech, sexual content, violence, spam, or other) and can add context. Our team reviews every report promptly and takes action when content violates these guidelines.
You can also email support@palit.me with screenshots and context, especially for anything urgent (threats, safety issues, minors at risk).
How to block
From the same ⋯ menu on any post, profile, comment, or message, tap Block. Blocking is instant and two-way:
- Their content disappears from your feed, search, comments, and direct messages immediately.
- Your content disappears from their view as well. They won't be able to see your profile, posts, or message you.
- Any follow relationships between you are severed automatically.
- Your existing direct message threads with them are hidden. You can unblock at any time from Settings → Blocked Users.
No explanations required. No warnings to the other party. Block is your tool to shape your own experience.
Our response
When a report comes in, our moderation team reviews the content against these guidelines. Depending on severity, we may:
- Remove the content
- Warn the user
- Restrict the user's ability to post temporarily
- Permanently ban the account
- Report to authorities (for content involving minors, credible threats, or illegal activity)
We aim to review reports promptly. If your content was removed and you believe it was in error, reach out to support@palit.me.
Proactive moderation
Palit uses automated content screening to catch the worst content before it reaches the community. Content that's clearly in violation (like sexual content involving minors or graphic violence) is rejected at the moment of creation. Edge cases and borderline content are flagged for human review.
Age requirement
You must be at least 13 years old to use Palit. If you're under 18, please follow your country's rules about online services and community platforms.
Changes
We may update these guidelines as Palit grows. Material changes will be communicated in the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated guidelines.
