About Palit
Every movie showtime in your city. And who’s going.
Palit is a showtimes board for people who go to the movies. It puts every film playing at every theater in a city on one page, and lets you say you’re going to a screening so the people going to the same one can find each other.
How it works
- 01
Everything playing, on one page
Every film at every theater in the city for the next two weeks: the arthouse rooms, the museums, the multiplexes. Filter by night, theater or format; every showtime links to the ticket.
- 02
Say you're going
One tap on a showtime puts you on that screening's list. The board shows how many are going to each film-night; the screening's page shows who, with first names only, once you're going too.
- 03
Go with people
Each screening has a chat and a link you can paste anywhere. Shoot your shot: enter someone's email and they get an invitation to see a movie with you, without being told who sent it.
Where
New York first: Metrograph, Film at Lincoln Center, IFC Center, Angelika, the Paris, Anthology, BAM, Nitehawk, the Quad, Museum of the Moving Image, and every AMC in the city. Then Pittsburgh, Columbus and Atlanta. Each city’s board is rebuilt every morning from the theaters’ own listings.
The log
Every screening you go to becomes an entry in your log: the film, the theater, the night, the format. Not a star rating; a record of where you actually were. Palit began as an iPhone app for ranking the films you’ve seen, head to head, and that app is still on the App Store.
